A major security (solutions) group reduces event operation costs and improves staff management using Eureka-iD.
Avonwood's Client is a leading international security services company operating in some 100 countries around the world with over 400,000 employees.
Event management
The security group has a large customer base that includes contracts to provide manned security services at prestigious locations hosting various events throughout the year.
When large events take place normal security operations are significantly increased, which means greater numbers of security staff are required to manage such high capacity crowds.
In the case of large sports events for example, there is an increase in staff numbers by approximately 500 - 1000 extra personnel.
The numbers of managed venues together with the increased numbers of staff required at these events led Avonwood's Client to look at reducing costs associated with these operations without compromising safety and security.
Cost reduction challenge
The Client works closely with event organisers arranging operational requirements.
The levels of security and staff numbers for an event are usually prearranged making it a difficult area to reduce costs without compromising an events safety and security.
Reducing the time to log staff on and off of a shift was a key area for the Client to reduce the operational costs at an event.
A previous system called for all the staff to be issued with a swipe card that was presented and swiped at the beginning and end of each shift with a database to calculate the time they had been on duty. The system caused obvious bottlenecks at the start and end of each shift as each member of staff had to wait to in turn to log in and out of the system.
The provided solution
When the Client approached Avonwood with the challenge to reduce their operational costs, a demonstration of the Eureka-iD system was given. This hands free system was ideally suited to this application for its ease of use and versatility.
The Eureka-iD system successfully tracks and identifies all security staff wearing a unique hands free RFID tag.
When staff passes through designated entry and exit points from the security compound at a particular event the tag transmits its data along with a preset address from a Eureka-iD wakeup antenna. The system confirms the identity of the personnel and logs the entry and exit movements on to the host system.
Tag data is received by a Eureka-iD reader unit, which communicates to the host system running RF data management software. The RF data management software stores all the tags history data and can be accessed at any time. Enabling the Client to have a full record of the time spent on duty by each member of the security staff wearing a Eureka-iD tag.
Cost saving solution
The Eureka-iD system eliminates bottleneck issues associated with the staff having to wait to use a swipe system or manually signing in and out at a registration point.
Company management are able to obtain accurate staff logging data and can ascertain exactly how much time is saved during registration periods. Consequently reducing the companies operational costs at large prestigious events.
